WORLD CONTINUING EDUCATION ALLIANCE AS CPD PROVIDER FOR MEDICAL AND DENTAL PRACTITIONERS IN THE DIASPORA

The Medical and Dental Council has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the World Continuing Education Alliance (WCEA) to enable Medical and Dental Practitioners, Physician Assistants and Certified Registered Anaesthetists in the Diaspora to undertake Continuous Professional Developments (CPDs) with WCEA.

 

WCEA has been certified to provide CPD programmes to practitioners registered with the Medical and Dental Council. WCEA will open its platform to practitioners in the Diaspora who wish to keep their practising licence active in Ghana.

A subscription fee will be charged to practitioners in the Diaspora to enable them to access the WCEA platform, effective 1st September 2024. The platform will provide access to content accredited by a number of world-acclaimed institutions of medical education and professional development, which are globally accepted for CPDs.

CPD programmes taken with WCEA will be credited wholly to practitioners in the Diaspora.

 

Medical and Dental Practitioners, Physician Assistants and Certified Registered Anaesthetists practising in Ghana will continue to get access to free CPD programmes from WCEA, with a maximum of five (5) credit points.

The existing rules for those with foreign licences still apply. Be informed that WCEA has courses recognized by Accreditation Council for Medical Education (ACCME), American Dental Association Continuing Education Recognition Program (ADA CERP) & American Nurses Credentialing Centre (ANCC) and other accreditation bodies in the USA.

In the UK, the platform has accredited content from the likes of a Royal Colleges, NHS/Health Education England and many others that can/will assist you renewing your license where you are currently practicing.
