NOTICE OF ELECTION
MEDICAL AND DENTAL COUNCIL ELECTION – (2025)
- The Commission is conducting elections for Registered Medical, Dental Practitioners and Physician Assistants or Certified Registered Anaesthetists to the Medical and Dental Council.
- Section 28 (1) and (c) of the Health Professions Regulatory Bodied Act, 2013 (Act 857) and Chapter 11 (4) of the Standing Orders provide that the Council shall include one Registered Medical Practitioner and one Registered Dental Practitioner elected by Medical and Dental Practitioners and one Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Anaesthetist elected by Physician Assistants or Certified Anaesthetists.
- Nominations of Candidates for the election will be received between the hours of 9:00 am and 12:00 noon and 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm on Thursday, 27th and Friday, 28th of February, 2025 at the Offices of the Electoral Commission in Accra and at the Regional Offices of the Electoral Commission or the Offices of the Regional Hospital Secretariats of the Regions in which the Nominee, the Proposer or Seconder is/are resident.
- Each Candidate is to be nominated on a separate Nomination Form. Nomination Forms may be obtained free of charge from the Electoral Commission Website (www.ec.gov.gh) or on the website of the Ghana Medical and Dental Council (www.mdcghana.org)
- Each set of duly completed Nomination Forms should be accompanied by two bust sized recent photographs with a red background and a short biographical note of the Candidate. The photographs and biographical notes will be used for the printing of Ballot Papers and Notice of Poll. The Notice of Poll will be displayed at all designated hospitals where the election will take place to enable Medical and Dental Practitioners and Physician Assistants or Certified Anaesthetists to have an insight into the background of each Candidate.
- The Poll will be taken on Friday, the 21st day of March, 2025 between the hours of 8 ‘O’ clock in the morning and 4 ‘O’ clock in the afternoon. Polling booths will be set up at the following hospitals: –
